New City

Four days in Quito afforded us the opportunity to explore both the old and new city. In "centro historico"  we took in all the archeticture, museums, 17th century cathedrals, and parks surrounding this lovely Andean city, the second highest capital in the world. Twenty minutes from the old town, you start seeing modern, commercial buildings which make up the majority of the "new city." Here is where we booked our trip to the Galapagos, and treated ourselves to a movie and dinner (Amanecer and a chicken hot dog). The chicken hot dog might have been responsible for Jeff's slight food-poisoning episode which kept us indoors the following day. Luckily, by then, we had seen most of Quito and were looking forward to Galapagos. Jeff felt better by next morning when we boarded our plane to Baltra.
