Bandeja Paisa |
A quarter past eight we arrived in BOG International airport. As soon as we walked out of the airport, we were pleasantly surprised to see a "Jeff Shields" sign. Unbeknownst to us, our new friend and host, Michelle, had arranged for a car service to take us to her home in Usaquen, Bogota. Bogota is a beautiful, urban city booming with life, culture and wealth. Usaquen, the neighborhood where we stayed, had numerous trendy and upscale restaurants all within walking distance. We couldn't ask for a more perfect location. The second day we explored the famous Montserrate Cathedral. To get there we took a ten minute cable car ride to the top of the mountain, known for having the best panoramic view of the city. Despite the overcast sky and rainy weather, the view did not disappoint. Our eyes were blown away by the magnitude of this city. Bogota is a huge metropolis. A short ride from the hill, is La Candelaria. Here we enjoyed a delicious lunch of "Bandeja Paisa" among locals, followed by a leisure walk through the colonial streets.
